Are You a New Auto Owner Wondering About Maintenance? Follow This Schedule

If you are a first-time automobile owner and you are wondering how often should you do car maintenance, there is a schedule you can stick to. With this maintenance schedule, you can help extend the life of your vehicle, keep it safe for the road, and upkeep the value. Every owner should use the car's manual as a guide to see the manufacturer's directions for maintenance.

In the past, every 3,000-5,000 miles was the standard. With new technology and auto products today, this has changed. Here is what is recommended by mechanics today.

Yearly Vehicle Maintenance

You should have the oil and oil filter on your automobile changed throughout the year. Synthetic oils that are used today can be effective for up to 10,000 miles, so you may only need to get your oil changed once a year, or more, depending on how much you drive annually.

When you get your oil changed you want to have the mechanics look at your tire tread, get a tire rotation, inspect the brake pads and brake rotors, and have all the fluids looked at and topped off.

30,000 Miles

Some filters need to be replaced at 30,000 miles, such as the air filter and fuel filter. This will help your engine run more efficiently, and help you get the best fuel efficiency possible. A full inspection under the hood should also be performed, along with all the things included in annual maintenance.

60,000 Miles

Around 60,000 miles you will need to change the battery in your vehicle, and you want all the fluids under the hood replaced. Brake pads and rotors will likely need to be replaced, along with different hoses, spark plugs, and other items.

Vehicle maintenance is important, and in between these milestones, you may have to see a mechanic for other things that come up. If you are a new car owner wondering how often should you do car maintenance, follow this schedule for your vehicle maintenance needs today.
